Context and contributions of the position

Joining the Bureau de Recherches Géologiques et Minières (BRGM) means becoming part of the leading public establishment in the Earth sciences, bringing together 1,000 expert and enthusiastic professionals in 29 entities located in mainland France and overseas. BRGM's mission is to provide geological knowledge and an understanding of soil and subsoil phenomena, with one overriding objective: to meet the challenges of environmental change through innovative projects that have a major impact on society.

You will join the Subsurface Knowledge and Geomodelling Department (DCGS), within the Geomodelling and Data Science Unit (GDS).
The DCGS develops the 3D/4D geological model of France and provides cross-disciplinary expertise in geology, geophysics, modelling, and data management to other BRGM departments.
The GDS Unit designs methodologies and digital tools enabling BRGM experts to generate knowledge from data. Its activities include the development of predictive models, simulators, and knowledge graphs, relying on high-performance numerical methods, machine learning/artificial intelligence, and geostatistics. In particular, the unit develops geomodelling tools required for building the 3D/4D geological model of France.

-Supervising PhD students and post-doctoral researchers.
-Contributing to BRGM's scientific output through high-impact publications and participation in international conferences.
-Maintaining and strengthening BRGM's partner network in this field.
Key research topics include:
-Processing of geophysical data (editing, inversion, fusion, analysis, etc.).
-Predictive mapping (geology, geotechnics, mineral resources, etc.).
-Document analysis (automatic structuring of multimodal documents, archive mining, etc.).
