Context and contributions of the position
The Digital Twin Project of France and its Territories (https://junn-france.fr/) aims to develop digital tools for the construction and implementation of digital twins (DT). In this context, BRGM is seeking a person to develop methods for quantifying and characterizing the uncertainties resulting from the DT construction process. This person will join the Geomodelling and Data Sciences team within the Subsurface Knowledge and Geomodelling Directorate. This team supports geoscientific experts in processing and analyzing their data, and participates in the development of methods and digital tools across all scientific fields of BRGM.
Job description
As part of your duties, you will be required to:
- Get to grips with various digital twins (DT) specific to geosciences (hydrogeology, geothermal energy, natural hazards, etc).
- Design and implement metrics to quantify the uncertainty on the outputs of interest produced by the digital twins (time series, geospatial data).
- Develop and implement global sensitivity analysis methods to identify the most important sources of uncertainty and quantify their contributions.
- Develop and implement uncertainty propagation methods adapted to the most important sources.
- Integrate these methods into the Python library of tools for BRGM's JN (https://gitlab.com/brgm/data-assimilation/orison).
- Participate in the integration of the tools developed into the JUNN infrastructure.
- Publish scientific articles and public communications.
