Context and contributions of the position
You will be joining the Geology, Geophysics and Geomodelling Division and its GEODATA unit, which plays a key role in capitalising on scientific and technical data produced by other units and departments. The goal is to produce data-bases, maps, and models.
Your role will involve setting up databases, reference frameworks, and proce-dures for collecting, organising, storing, and ensuring the quality control of geo-logical data (e.g., field observations, boreholes, seismic data, etc.).
You will act as a bridge between geoscience experts and IT specialists to facili-tate mutual understanding of needs and requirements. Additionally, you will use your management skills to coordinate teams responsible for building databases, integrating validated data (QC), and delivering digital projects to subject matter experts.

Joining the Bureau de Recherche Géologique et Minière (BRGM) means becoming part of the leading public institution in Earth sciences, bringing together 1,000 expert and passionate professionals across 29 entities in mainland France and overseas territories.
BRGM's activities focus on geological knowledge and understanding soil and subsoil-related phenomena, with the objective of addressing environmental challenges through innovative and socially significant projects.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure data quality in compliance with defined standards
- Assess technical and budgetary feasibility of internal and external re-quests
- Propose technical solutions aligned with business needs in projects
- Monitor software developments and suggest improvement tools
- Recommend database models, describe, select, or develop necessary tools, and oversee implementation
- Ensure compliance with rules, deadlines, and procedures (IDs, data flows, confidentiality)
- Manage the organisation of data storage and databases according to industry standards
- Develop and document data flow management and quality control pro-cedures
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to users and new recruits
- Prioritise and arbitrate client requests.

Education Master degree
Experience 1 – 5 years
You should demonstrate the following skills and abilities:
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in data loading tools and scripting languages (e.g., SQL, Py-thon)
- Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., MySQL, Post-greSQL, Oracle)
- Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) such as ArcGIS and QGIS
- Experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools is a plus
Analytical Skills:
- Competency in data manipulation and the use of data analysis software (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI)
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and precision in execution
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with diverse, multidisciplinary teams
Additional Knowledge:
- Master's degree in Geosciences
- Understanding of Geoscience/Reservoir industries, key processes, and market software (Schlumberger, Paradigm, Landmark, ESRI, etc.)
- Knowledge of data management methods and GIS
