Context and contributions of the position
Joining the French Geological Survey (BRGM) means becoming part of France's leading public institution for Earth Science applications bringing together 1,000 wholeheartedly committed experts across 25 bases in Mainland and Overseas France. BRGM focuses on enhancing geological knowledge and understanding of surface and sub-surface- related phenomena, with a view to: meeting the challenges of environmental changes through innovative projects with societal implications.
You will join the Mineralogical Characterization and Traceability Unit (CMT), which is part of the Mineral Resources Division (DRM).
This Division works on strategic topics including metallogeny, the development of mineral processing and extractive metallurgy processes for the valorization of metal-bearing ores and waste recycling; securing the supply of strategic mineral resources, and the environmental understanding and assessment of mineral value chains.
In this context, the CMT unit develops integrated, multi-scale mineralogical characterization approaches, combining observation, experimentation, and digital tools to support mineral identification and the understanding of mineral material transformation processes.
Job description
As part of your role, your will be primarily in charge of :
- Supporting the integration of innovations in mineral characterization to improve understanding of ore-formation processes and mineral processing .
- Developing signal acquisition and processing methods tailored to 2D and 3D imaging data derived from microtomography, chemical mapping, or spectroscopic techniques.
- Conducting scientific and technological monitoring on advanced methods and experimental approaches in geometallurgy.
- Collaborating with geochemists, mineralogists, and engineers to orient data processing toward applications related to resource inventory, quality assessment, and transformation processes.
