Context and contributions of the position

You will work within the Subsurface Knowledge and Geomodelling Division (DCGS), in the Geophysics and Remote Sensing for the Near Surface (GTS) unit.
This team is tasked with deploying and developing innovative geophysical and satellite-based methods for imaging “large-scale” geological structures and monitoring subsurface energy (or non-energy) and mineral resources.
Job description
You will be mainly responsible for:
- Participate in airborne geophysical surveys (electromagnetism, gravimetry, magnetism, and gamma-spectrometry, etc.) in France and internationally, ensuring their preparation, monitoring, quality control, and process the acquired data;
- Propose and develop innovative approaches for the processing, modelling, and interpretation of geophysical data, and for integration with other geoscientific data (geological, geochemical, etc.);
- Enhance the value of acquired geophysical data in geoscientific studies aimed at diverse purposes (signal analysis, interpretation, 2D/3D modelling).
- Contribute to the planning and execution of interdisciplinary studies by providing geophysical expertise;
- Contribute to the scientific promotion of obtained results through communications, scientific publications, and contribute to the scientific reputation of the institution.
- Participate in the development of collaborative research programs, public policy support initiatives, and commercial projects.
- Respond to calls for proposals in partnership with research institutes and companies,
- Disseminate and promote scientific results: writing Tier A publications and presenting at international conferences,
- Co-supervise PhD students and post-doctoral researchers,
- Contribute to BRGM's QMS/EMS.

Experience: 1 - 5 years
You hold a PhD in geophysics with a specialisation in airborne geophysics and have initial experience in a research institute or in a company engaged in R&D in the field of airborne geophysics. Specific knowledge of geology and experience in mineral resources would be an asset.
You should demonstrate the following skills and abilities:
- Specific knowledge of geophysical methods, particularly electromagnetic, gravimetric, magnetic methods, and gamma spectrometry;
- Experience in quality control of airborne geophysical surveys;
- Experience in the processing, modelling, and inversion of geophysical data;
- Proficiency in using QGIS, Matlab, Python, as well as specialised software such as Oasis Montaj, Aarhus Workbench, etc.
- Strong background and interest in geosciences, particularly in geology;
- Ability to work in a team;
- Ability to work independently, precision and sense of organisation;
- Excellent communication skills; fluency in English (spoken and written).
