You will work within the Subsurface Knowledge and Geomodelling Division (DCGS), in the Deep Geophysics and Remote Sensing Unit (GTP).
This team is responsible for developing innovative geophysical and satellite-based methods for imaging large-scale geological structures and monitoring subsurface energy and mineral resources.
As part of this role, you will contribute to R&D and operational projects in regional geophysics, covering a range of topics including mineral resources, geothermal energy, hydrogeology, and geological mapping.
Job description
You will be mainly responsible for:
– Participate in airborne geophysical data acquisition campaigns (electromagnetics, gravimetry, magnetics, and gamma spectrometry, etc.) in France and internationally, including preparation, monitoring, and quality control;
– Contribute to the processing of airborne geophysical data (electromagnetics, gravimetry, magnetics, and gamma spectrometry, etc.);
– Help develop innovative approaches for processing, modeling, and interpreting geophysical data, and integrating them with other geoscientific data (geological, geochemical, etc.);
– Add value to acquired geophysical data through geoscientific studies for various purposes (signal analysis, interpretation, 2D/3D modeling), in collaboration with geologists, hydrogeologists, mining geologists, etc.;
– Contribute to the design and execution of multidisciplinary studies by providing geophysical expertise;
– Participate in project proposals in partnership with research institutes and companies;
– Promote and communicate the results: writing technical reports and scientific publications, presenting at international conferences;
– Contribute to BRGM's Quality and Environmental Management Systems (QMS/EMS).

Expérience: Beginner
You hold an engineering degree (or equivalent) or a PhD in geophysics and have a solid background in geology. Prior experience in airborne geophysics would be considered an asset.
You will bring the following skills and qualities:
- Good knowledge of geophysical methods: electromagnetic, gravimetric, magnetic, and gamma-ray spectrometry;
- Strong background in signal processing, geophysical modeling, and inversion;
- Experience with QGIS, Matlab, Python, and industry software such as Oasis Montaj, Aarhus Workbench, etc., would be a plus;
- A solid foundation and strong interest in geosciences, particularly geology;
- Ability to work effectively in a team;
- Autonomy, thoroughness, and strong organizational skills;
- Good communication skills, with fluency in spoken and written English.
Working conditions
This full-time position involves medium- to long-term travel in France and abroad, and occasionally night work.
