Context and contributions of the position
In the Water Division, the laboratories of the Geochemistry Platform Unit (PGE) bring together BRGM's environmental research analytical resources and skills in areas related to pollutant characterisation, sampling, physico-chemical analysis and the quality of measurements.
The unit wishes to strengthen its capacity to develop and implement analytical methods for organic contaminants.
Job description
Joining the French Geological Survey (BRGM) means becoming part of France's leading public institution for Earth Science applications bringing together 1,000 wholeheartedly committed experts across 29 bases in Mainland and Overseas France.
BRGM focuses on enhancing geological knowledge and understanding of surface and sub-surface-related phenomena, with a view to meeting the challenges of environmental changes through innovative projects with societal implications.
More specifically, you will be in charge of :
- Developing and carrying out analyses using liquid and gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (LC-MSMS; GC-MSMS);
- Carrying out non-targeted analyses using liquid chromatography coupled with high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS);
- Carrying out studies and literature reviews in connection with the development of analysis methods;
- Sizing and managing tests in connection with environmental metrology (sampling equipment and protocol, blanks, etc.);
- Contributing to the development of knowledge in the form of scientific publications, oral communications and reports. Contribute to promoting the knowledge produced, in the form of scientific publications, oral communications and reports.

You have a Master's degree or an engineering school diploma in chemistry, with a specialisation in analytical chemistry.
You will have the following knowledge and skills:
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of chromatographic techniques coupled with mass spectrometry and high-resolution mass spectrometry;
-Experience in analytical chemistry applied to environmental matrices (preparation of samples for analysis of trace/ultra-trace organic contaminants).
-Team spirit, initiative and autonomy;
- Ability to draft in French and English;
- Ability to synthesise
